Ruth Anne Larracas

For nearly two decades, (Ruth) Anne has worked on environmental justice issues and supported frontline and grassroots communities in building capacity to speak and stand up for themselves on issues of waste and pollution. She has helped defeat waste technologies that seek to turn communities into dumping grounds.

Her personal interest in food security and sovereignty, permaculture, and regenerative practices is what brought her to Global Seed Savers Philippines. For many years, she cultivated a small permaculture-inspired urban garden, complete with a small-scale biogas “facility” and composting pots that brought circularity to her household. Anne holds a Permaculture Certification from Oregon State University.

An educator by training, Anne believes that education and food are integral rights that everyone should enjoy equitably. She also hopes to help build a world where children know the names of plants, insects and animals by heart.
